Kleine-Levin Syndrome (KLS) is a neurological disorder characterized by repeated episodes of hypersomnia, typically lasting from days to weeks. In these episodes, patients sleep up to 20 hours a day and are typically unable to function during their wake periods. The episodes of sleep are typically associated with cognitive disturbances, mood swings, and altered behavior.

Its particular causation is still, however, unknown; and most of these people believe it has to do with the function of the brain in controlling functions like sleep and hunger.
